As we approach the end of any year it is natural to reflect on what has happened over the previous 12 months. At Rocket it has been a time of change and considerable growth for the business. Let’s take a look back at some of the key events from our year at Rocket.
At the beginning of 2024 Ruth and Callum headed to Treviso in north east Italy to visit the facility where Rocket’s door kits are manufactured and packaged. The trip was a chance to meet with colleagues in a different part of the production process to discuss any issues and future plans.
In February Callum’s adorable pooch Mogwai was born. The French Bulldog puppy has been a regular visitor to Rocket office throughout 2024 and can often be found under a desk looking for a shoe lace to chew on.
March saw Callum head to the NEC in Birmingham to the national Homebuilding & Renovating Show. The four-day event was an opportunity to display Rocket’s pocket door and ultra flush door kits to the thousands of visitors including builders, architects and keen DIYers.
In April we were pleased to feature in Archetech magazine showcasing how the Rocket ultra flush door system can be used in a business setting. After using our door frames on other projects, the Artisan Group chose Rocket’s concealed door design for their build for Dr L’Art, a premier aesthetic clinic in the heart of London. From an empty shell room, the space was transformed into a sophisticated sanctuary of beauty and wellness boasting 12 exquisite rooms, each adorned with the sleek elegance of ultra flush doors. We always love to see installation videos and one of the best we’ve had this year came from Oli Lee back in the spring. Known as @withbearhandsuk on Instagram, you can view his pocket door construction and cabin build here.
In June Rocket welcomed Jez Orbell and Tristen Thorpe to the team overseeing Marketing and Business Development respectively. This expansion allows us to focus on streamlining processes and promote the Rocket brand more effectively across online and offline media. We even have new team polo shirts!
The largest single order of Rocket’s ultra flush doors was shipped to a house development project to Littlehampton in West Sussex in July. A total of 18 doors, frames and accessories were sent on a single pallet with two more doors also being sent out for a double concealed doorway the following month.
Social media is where many people get ideas and inspiration for their home renovation projects. Georgina Raine has always been a big advocate for Rocket’s pocket doors and we were thrilled to work with her in August by using a special discount code which she shared with her 190,000 followers on Instagram.
Also, in August we had the pleasure of meeting Simon, the owner of Outwoodcic in Grantham who crafts beautiful pieces using reclaimed wood. We were delighted to donate some of our pallets and are excited to see the wonderful new creations Simon will make. We are always looking for opportunities to enhance the sustainability of our business while also giving back to the community.
Rocket was able to support more community projects in September. We visited Ketton Sports Cricket Club in Rutland to see the three new cricket pitch covers displaying the Rocket logo as part of a sponsorship deal. After reorganising the office we also had the opportunity to donate a table tennis table to a youth centre at Earlesfield in Grantham. Jez met with Daniel who runs the Hope Community Café who host a series of events and initiatives in aid of local people.
At the end of September Ruth and the team headed to the ExCeL in London to exhibit at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show. This was another chance to promote Rocket’s products and a first opportunity for Jez and Tristen to meet with potential customers looking to bring their design ideas to life. We were delighted to receive orders in October with the show discount code just a matter of days later.
It is always great to see our kits installed in person and speak to customers face to face to learn about their experience of using our products. Ruth, Jez and Callum had the chance to do that when they met Pete and Sarah at Cow Shed Barn in Cambridgeshire. Fourteen of Rocket’s ultra flush doors had been installed in their barn conversion.
The impressive build formed part of a case study which later featured in the November issue of Architecture, Building, Contracting & Developing magazine. This was part of a busy period for Rocket in print with the fire safety of our products coming into focus plus a feature in The Times weekend supplement.
Overall it has been a fantastic year for Rocket Door Frames. Two new staff, an office move and operational changes all geared to help make 2025 even better. We have exciting plans we can’t wait to share with you.
Looking back on this past year Callum says: “This year at Rocket Door Frames has been an exciting journey of growth and productivity. One of the standout moments for us has been welcoming two new members to our team, Tristen and Jez. Their expertise and enthusiasm have been invaluable as we’ve tackled new challenges and continued to provide exceptional service to our customers.”
Tristen added: "One of the best moments for me so far has been attending my first industry show at the ExCeL in London. It was such a buzz seeing the latest innovations up close, meeting people in the industry, and just soaking up all the energy and ideas. It really opened my eyes and made me even more excited about what’s possible for the business. Starting a new role is always a bit nerve-wracking, but I’ve been so lucky to work with a great group of like-minded people. Plus, having dogs visit the office that’s just the cherry on top — it always makes my day!"
Jez says: “I have really enjoyed my time with Rocket since joining in the Summer. It is a fabulous group of people that is really supportive of each other whether it is processing orders in the office or despatching the kits in the warehouse. It’s what a team should be.”
Ruth says: “It’s been a year filled with progress, from expanding our operations to handling a growing demand for our innovative doorframe solutions. With a strong team and a focus on excellence, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved and are looking forward to carrying this momentum into the year ahead. Here’s to more milestones and continued success!”
From all in the Rocket team, have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. We look forward to working with you again in 2025.
